Chapbook feedback includes one 30 minute Zoom call to discuss any questions you may have. Feedback on full-length manuscripts includes a 1-2 hour Zoom session. Outside of standard rates, I can additionally offer reading and submitting recommendations, hop on a Zoom session for developmental editing support, etc—I am happy to discuss your hopes and needs.

Devotion & Creative Practice 1on1 Workshop:

One of my favorite things is working with writers and artists 1on1 in a personalized workshop style. In addition to written feedback, we can discuss strategies for generating new work, revision, close reading, publishing, larger project support, or centering writing/artmaking in your life. I offer embodied approaches in Zoom, too, if you’re interested in movement/visualization as part of a writing practice. Just reach out and let me know what you need. I support writers & interdisciplinary artists.

Note re payment: I typically ask for half of the payment up front, and the other half upon delivery of feedback, either through Venmo, Paypal, or check. Payment plans and special rates are available upon request; if my rates are not doable for you, please let me know, and I will do my best to find a mutually beneficial way for us to work together! My standard critique includes line notes and a feedback letter.

Testimonials

"I consulted Patrycja Humienik for a packet of poems and could not be more pleased by her feedback and generosity. She offered insightful comments that helped me find the vision and heart of my poems. You won't regret your experience. Thank you, Patrycja!"

—Sebastián H. Páramo, editor at Deep Vellum & author of Portrait of Us Burning (Northwestern University Press, 2023)

"I can’t imagine my book without Patrycja’s feedback. Her insights, observations, questions, encouragements, and revision suggestions challenged and empowered me to push my poems in the most crucial ways. Generous and wise, with brilliant instincts for both line-level and structural aspects of a manuscript, Patrycja is one of the best consultants I’ve ever known. Worth every cent and then some!"

—Gabrielle Bates, author of Judas Goat

"Patrycja's workshops blend creative movement, writing and deep conversation in an utterly transformative way. I took two of her zoom classes during the pandemic and was delighted by her ability to bring us into our bodies and into community across the digital void. My friends and I still talk about those workshops and what a light they were during a dark time — like a door to a warm party with cool, creative friends opening in the night. If you can take one of her workshops remotely — do it. If you can go to one of her amazing in-person offerings — maybe in a museum, maybe in the desert — do it, and count yourself one lucky duck!"

—Tessa Cheek, Fiction Writer

"Patrycja is an incredible teacher across contexts. Having learned from her first in a virtual setting, I was mesmerized by her ability to blend generative prompts, close poem readings, and movement in a way that felt accessible and expansive (even via Zoom!). After a two hour workshop, I knew I wanted to invite her to teach at Write Doe Bay, a four day cross-genre retreat on Orcas Island, WA. Patrycja taught on devotion and play, bringing generous insights into the room. She also got us moving, taking her workshop outside under the evergreens to remind us that poetry is not just a cerebral act. In teaching, Patrycja centers social justice, diversity, accessibility, and kindness. Our feedback forms speak for themselves: Patrycja is an asset to any learning environment, for students of all ages and writing backgrounds."

—Britt McGillivray, they/them, Poet/Organizer at Write Doe Bay

"Working with Patrycja was a transformative experience, one that has already deepened and re-imagined my poetry manuscript. Her close reading and thoughtful in-line edits are sensitive, generous, and encouraging but working with her goes beyond that; she helps expand your thinking and writing in ways you hadn’t dared. I can’t think of a better investment in your writing life."
